Science Library will host community open house

The Science Library staff invites the community to tour the library's new layout, meet new staff members and learn about new electronic resources at an open house to be held in the library in Room 14S-100 on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The installation of compact shelving begun last May is complete, the collections have been reorganized, and all current issues of journals are now shelved in a more open, central area.

Virtual renovation has occurred as well. Over the summer, the MIT Libraries unveiled a new interface to the Barton catalog, as well as a new web site and new electronic products.

Everyone in the MIT community is welcome to drop in for refreshments, door prizes and a raffle, as well as a tour and an update on materials in the sciences. For more information, contact Howard Silver at hsilver@mit.edu or x3-9319.
