Sports facilities extend hours to stay open into the night

The Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation recently announced that Rockwell Cage, du Pont Gymnasium and the du Pont Athletic Center squash courts will remain open until 1 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Activities available will be basketball, volleyball, badminton and squash.

"The community has indicated an interest in late-night programming," said Director of Athletics Candace Royer. "More open-activity hours in our facilities is one of the requests that has been made repeatedly. This is open recreation time; reservations will not be accepted. Everyone who has an athletic card is welcome to come and participate in the activity of his or her choice."

The new hours are part of a pilot program that will continue if usage justifies it.
