Shuttle Update

The Parking and Transportation Office has a temporary shuttle service for the Albany Street parking areas and a new shuttle service, a revision of "The Link." Holiday rides to Logan Airport are also being offered again.

Albany shuttle

Due to the temporary closing of the Albany Street pedestrian railroad crossing, the Department of Facilities and the Parking and Transportation Office have arranged a shuttle to the Albany Street parking areas during dark evening hours.

The shuttle service will operate from Wednesday, Dec. 13 until Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 4-6pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Institute holidays. Departure times from Building 13 will be every 10 minutes starting on the hour. The buses (SafeRide vans, white with maroon lettering) will start in front of Building 13, turn left on Vassar Street, right on Massachusetts Avenue, right on Albany Street, loop back to Vassar and return to Building 13. It will stop at each parking facility as requested by riders.

Questions or comments should be e-mailed to mitparking@mit.edu or construction@mit.edu.

New 'Link'

Parking and Transportation has announced a new shuttle service starting December 11 with stops at the Kendall Square MBTA stop, Building NE43, Building N42/N52, University Park, Erie Street at Waverly, and Massachusetts Avenue at Albany Street.

This new service, a revision of "The Link" shuttle, runs Monday through Friday during peak commuter hours from 6:05-8:59am and 4:25-7:39pm.

MIT employees, students and affiliates can now use "The Link," which is managed by Charles River Transportation Management Association (CRTMA) and operated by Paul Revere Transportation. Look for the white-and-blue Paul Revere van with "The Link" signs in the window.

See the shuttle's web site for the full schedule and route map. Anyone with questions or comments may contact John McDonald, director of Parking and Transportation, at jmcd@mit.edu or Jim Gascoigne of CRTMA at (617) 914-8081 or coin1@mit.edu.

Airport shuttle

Parking and Transportation will once again provide airport shuttle service for MIT community members leaving for winter break.

Shuttles will be available every half-hour from noon-5pm on Wednesday, Dec. 20 and then every 20 minutes from 9am-5pm on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 21-22. There will also be shuttle service on Saturday, Dec. 23 from 8am-4pm on the half-hour.

Tickets are $5, and advance reservations are required; paper tickets will not be sold. See the Parking and Transportation web site for details and shuttle availability. All reservations will be processed via the web site and fees will be billed to student bursar accounts or through employee payroll deductions.

Shuttles will depart from the Kresge parking lot at the scheduled times and will not wait for late arriving passengers. Normal trip time from MIT to Logan is about half an hour, but passengers should allow up to an hour for the trip because of possible traffic and construction delays.
