Harvard Pilgrim members don't need to choose a new plan in November

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care plan members will be enrolled automatically in the Network Blue New England plan as of January 1 unless they elect another plan during the November open enrollment period. They do not have to elect a health plan during the upcoming open enrollment unless they wish to choose one of the other options.

Members of the MIT community were recently advised that, after December 31, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care will no longer be offered as a health plan option, and as of January 1, MIT will offer the Network Blue New England plan through Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

This change does not effect the Medicare supplement health plans available to retirees and their spouses. First Seniority, a Medicare health maintenance organization offered through Harvard Pilgrim, will continue to be an option for retirees after December 31.

Plan members with questions about health plan options may contact the Benefits Office on campus at x3-6151 and at Lincoln Laboratory extension 7055.
