Vendor fair to showcase wares

More than 80 of MIT's suppliers will display their products and answer questions at a vendor fair on Thursday, Oct. 7. The fair will be in a tented area on McDermott Court (next to Building 54) from 9am-3pm.

The Vendor Fair, sponsored by the Procurement Department, will provide an opportunity for vendors and MIT community members to discuss how to achieve the Institute's supplier-consolidation goals. Those goals include reducing the cost of obtaining goods and services while enhancing the quality of those services to the community.

There will be live demonstrations of the ECAT system, and the MIT VIP Credit Card program will be discussed. MIT internal providers including the Copy Technology Centers, Audio-Visual, Facilities, Mail Services and the Safety Office will also have booths. In addition, there will be a Y2K booth and a booth emphasizing campus recycling efforts.

Outside vendors of office and computer supplies, laboratory apparatus, chemicals, solvents, enzymes, electronic components, small equipment, furniture, office furnishings, temporary help and compressed-gas cylinders will be on hand. For more information, call Diane Shea at x3-8370.
