Benefits enrollment runs Monday through Nov. 14

The Benefits Office reminds eligible members of the MIT community that the annual benefits open enrollment period will be held from Monday, November 1 through Sunday, November 14. Personal Enrollment Guides are being sent to all benefits-eligible employees via campus mail this week.

Employees do not need to do anything if they want to maintain their current level of coverage for 2000 unless they want to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account for 2000. Employees may enroll by phone or on the web.

Early retirees (under age 65) will also receive Personal Enrollment Guides this week. They will not need to do anything to maintain their current level of coverage for 2000. They may make open enrollment elections by phone using the MIT Benefits self-service system. The system allows users to listen to a review of their benefits and to record benefits changes.

If you do not receive your enrollment guide by November 1, send e-mail to benefits-www@mit.edu or call the Benefits Office at x3-0500. Lincoln Laboratory employees should contact the Lincoln Benefits Office at (781) 981-7055.

Representatives from each of the health plans, the dental plan, the life insurance plan and the new long-term care insurance plan will answer questions about their plans at the Benefits fairs listed below. Benefits Office staff will also be available to answer any other benefits questions.

  • Thursday, Oct. 28 -- Haystack Observatory Conference Room A, 10-11am
  • Thursday, Oct. 28 -- Bates Linear Accelerator, 2-3pm
  • Tuesday, Nov. 2 -- Student Center Mezzanine Lounge, 10am-3pm
  • Thursday, Nov. 4 -- Lincoln Laboratory East Atrium, 10am-4pm
LONG-TERM CARE

The schedule of meetings for the upcoming week is as follows:
