The annual Commuter Transportation Fair will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7 in Lobby 7 from 11am-2pm. MIT and the Charles River Transportation Management Association will provide information about alternatives to the drive alone commute.
The fair brings together providers of commuter services and information to help MIT students, employees and affiliates learn about options for getting to, from and around the MIT campus.
Co-sponsor CRTMA is a group of area businesses that are working together to make it easier to get around Cambridge. CRTMA's primary services are the Riverside and Landward Shuttles, which provide service to the MIT campus, Kendall Square, Cambridgeport, University Park and Central Square (<http://web.mit.edu/planning/shuttle/>).
Caravan for Commuters will have information on ride-matching for car and van pools. Currently, van pools come to Cambridge from Barnstable/Sagamore, Plymouth, Newburyport and two from Londonderry, NH.
A representative of the MBTA will answer any questions about buses, subways and commuter rail, and Massport will provide information about Logan International Airport. The City of Cambridge will have information on its bicycle and pedestrian initiatives. In addition, there will be information about the Central Artery Tunnel, the proposed Urban Ring transit system, and other Cambridge-area transportation projects.
Staffers from the MIT Parking and Transportation Office will discuss parking, the MBTA pass program and SafeRide shuttles, and students from the Center for Transportation Studies will exhibit some of their current projects.
