Three promoted in Bursar's Office

Several internal promotions in the Bursar's Office have been announced by James J. Culliton, vice president for administration. The realinment follows the appointment of Dr. Shirley M. Picardi, former bursar, to the full-time staff of the Information Technology reengineering effort.

Carolyn A. Bunker has been promoted to bursar and is responsible for student financial records which include billing and collecting tuition and fees, and disbursing and collecting student loans. Ms. Bunker came to MIT as a financial officer in 1989 from Boston University, where she was assistant comptroller. Since being promoted to associate bursar for financial systems, she has managed the accounting and programming staff in the Bursar's Office.

Sandra Chauncey has become associate bursar for student services. She also came to MIT in 1989 from Boston University where she was assistant manager of student loans. Most recently she has been assistant bursar for alumni services at MIT and has managed the loan collection staff. In her new position, Ms. Chauncey is the primary student service manager and serves as liaison between the Bursar's Office and the MIT community in matters of student accounts billing and collection.

Barbara Johnson (formerly Doyle) has been promoted to associate bursar for financial systems. She joined the Bursar's Office as an analyst programmer in 1990 after working as a financial systems consultant with the United Nations in Geneva. As assistant bursar for information systems she had primary responsibility for acceptance testing of the Student Information System. As associate bursar, Ms. Johnson manages the accounting and programming staff and is a member of the student information systems development team.
